Dr. Amy Polkes, DVM, AVCIM

Dr. Amy Polkes, DVM, AVCIM graduated from the Purdue University College of Veterinarian Medicine in 1993.  She interned at Fox Run Equine in Pennsylvania before completing a residency in Equine Internal Medicine at The University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Polkes is Board Certified in Equine Internal Medicine by the American Veterinary College of Internal Medicine.  Her areas of expertise are endoscopic evaluation of the respiratory system and gastrointestinal tract, ultrasound of the horse’s chest, heart and intestinal tract, and disorders of the horse’s eye.

Dr. Polkes recently moved from Maryland to New York State to be closer to her immediate family and ailing parents.  She travels back to Maryland to see WCEC patients who need her array of special talents and expertise.  Most commonly, we ask her here to evaluate horses with echocardiography (ultrasound of a horse's heart) and endoscopy of the gastric stomach.  Please call 1-410-741-1473 (WCEC office) to schedule an appointment with Dr. Polkes.  She is generally here twice monthly.
